During this time, our practice center will be open to visitors throughout the entire ango period. Guests are welcome to take part in the daily life of the temple for a day, a weekend, a week, or for the full duration of the practice period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The rest days marked in the calendar below have no scheduled program, and we kindly ask visitors not to plan their arrival on those days. It is the core of our practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>One round of zazen lasts for 40 minutes, apart from the morning, when it is 50 minutes, and the last round in the evening, when it is 20 minutes. In the longer rounds, there is a bell in the middle to mark the possibility to change posture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is an opportunity to meet with our teacher, Sangen-sensei in dokusan, a private meeting. Dokusans are being held regularly during the weeks that Sanneji is open to visitors. A visitor can also request an extra dokusan if needed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Meals<\/strong><br>Breakfast and lunch are formal, meaning that they start with a chant and the meal is shared in silence. The dinner is informal, consisting mainly of leftovers from lunch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Accommodation<\/strong><br>In Sanneji, there is one big dormitory and several smaller rooms for visitors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>VISITING<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>During the times when Sanneji is open to visitors you are welcome to stay here for one day, several days, a weekend, or just one block of zazen. You can find the<strong> dates for visiting<\/strong> in the calendar below. Please contact us via email or by phone before visiting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you haven\u2019t attended an introductory course to zen (for example, in <a href=\"https:\/\/helsinki.zazen.fi\/english\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Helsinki Zen Center<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/tampere.zazen.fi\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Sanneji Zendo Tampere<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/turku.zazen.fi\/turku-zen-group\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"\">Sanneji Zendo Turku<\/a>), please let us know before your arrival. You will receive a short introduction before participating in zazen. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The best time for arrival and departure is<strong> 9.00-11.30.<\/strong> If this is not possible for you, the optional times for arriving in the afternoon are 13.30-14.30 and 16.30-18.00.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>To bring with you:<\/strong><br>-Sheets<br>-Towel<br>-Clothes suitable for both inside and outside work<br>-Clothes suitable for zazen, preferably of dark and neutral colour and without pattern or text. In summertime, please remember to cover your shoulders and knees in zendo. <br>In wintertime it may be quite cold in the house, especially in the zendo, so you might want to bring some warm clothes with you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Arriving to Sanneji:<\/strong><br>The nearest train station is Karjaa, where we can pick up visitors by car. The trip from the station to Sanneji takes around seven minutes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you arrive with your own car, there is a spacious parking place right after the gate. The address is: <strong>Sann\u00e4sintie 418, 10300 Raasepori.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Bank information for donations:<\/strong><br>There is no fixed price for visiting. Everyone can support activity in Sanneji by dana, a donation. The usual amount of dana given has been 10-35 \u20ac per night.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is also a dana box by the entrance, where you can make donations for sensei and residents.<br><br>Helsinki Zen Center ry\/Sanneji <br>IBAN: FI24 4170 0010 1784 20 <br>BIC\/SWIFT: ITELFIHH<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong><strong>Membership:<\/strong><br><\/strong>Sanneji is maintained by Sanneji Zen ry, a non-profit association.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The membership fee is \u20ac40 per month, or \u20ac480 per year. By becoming a member, you support the practice at Sanneji in a very concrete way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a member, you receive a discount on retreat fees at Sanneji and have voting rights and decision-making power in the association\u2019s annual meeting.
